I notice that there are many Hello Kitty fans here in TokyoKawaiiEtc. So I thought of sharing this place with you.
Well, Hello Kitty fans probably know about this place already.
It is a really long ride from the city area. From Shibuya, it takes about 40minutes.
Honestly, I’m not a fan of Hello Kitty. I don’t dislike it, but I don’t go crazy over it either. I was not very keen on going there actually, but my friend was a fan of Hello Kitty, so off we went to check Sanrio Puroland out.
There are often discounts and promotions to Sanrio Puroland, so make sure you check the website before you go. You can always find discount coupons or special offers. 
Be sure to check the operating hours of Sanrio Puroland too. You don’t want to get all excited about this trip, taking a long train ride, only to arrive there and find out it’s going to close in less than 2 hours’ time (which is what happened to my friend and I).
There are not many attractions in Sanrio Puroland. However, if you’re a fan of Hello Kitty, be sure to check out Kitty House.
You’ll be able to explore the house of Hello Kitty, and you can see all its lovely Kitty furniture.
I guess all Hello Kitty fans would go “WOWWWW” and “YAYYYYY!!!” as they enter each room of Kitty House. And maybe the occasional excited “NYAN NYAN NYAN!!!” I don’t know. How are Hello Kitty fans like?
You need to pay 500yen to go into Kitty House, and they let you in in a small group instead of everyone at once, so you can take lots of pictures as it’s not that crowded.
No I’m sorry these are not for sale.
You can see Kitty’s dining room, bathroom, bedroom and so on. I guess it’s a Hello Kitty’s fan’s heaven!
After the end of the walk, you can meet Kitty-chan and take a picture with her! You can buy the picture if you like it.
I lost the picture of my friend and I taking a picture with Kitty-chan, but if you want to see her, actually, she’s quite everywhere! I have a picture of her in her Yukata since it was Spring. She was at the entrance welcoming everyone who came to visit her.
Just before Puroland closes, all the characters will come out, and you can take pictures with them!!!!!

Charmmy Kitty was really popular!!! She’s Hello Kitty’s pet cat!
OMG! I love Badtz Maru!! He’s so super funny! Hahaha! He gave me and my friend a flying kiss! Hahahaha! Just imagine him doing a flying kiss with that funny face of his! I love him!
And Dear Daniel was such a charming Ikemen! Haha! I understand why Kitty chan fell for him. Hahaha!

Remember to check out Sanrio’s merchandise in the many souvenir shops in Sanrio Puroland before you leave. There are certain merchandise that are not available elsewhere.
In conclusion, you can have happy memories at Sanrio Puroland even though you are not a fan of Hello Kitty. Sanrio has many adorable characters which you can admire or reminisce with your friend. We saw characters like Keroppi, Badtz Maru, Little Twin Stars, My Melody, Usahana, Purin, Pochacco, Pekkie, Kuromi etc…
I used to like Little Twin Stars a lot. I used to buy their tin-can candies when I was a kid. The candies were powdery and had sweet, fragrant, fruity flavours. I just loved the whole pastel-colour look. Those were really good memories. Didn’t we all own a Sanrio product once? I remember I loved to sketch the characters onto my notebook.

I love rilakkuma too, but in my country it isn't famous, so I have more things of kitty ^^

Man, Apple, you really don't like Hello Kitty, huh? >_< Anyway, I went there when I was in Japan. That was one of my destination. Coming from the States, we get over dosed w/ all the Mickey and Tweety, so having Hello Kitty is definitely a refreshing change. That said, Puroland is target to much younger kids than all ages like Disney or Universal parks. But I still had a great time, I ran out of batteries taking pictures w/ my phone, my camera and my mom's camera. So, for those of us who are still kids at heart, this is still a great fun place to be. For someone who doesn't speak Japanese, I would say the highlights are the exhibit where it's like a scavenger hunt, and the boat ride. I skipped the show since I don't know the content, the parade is a tad cheesy but no worst than the ones in Disney.

Ah! I do love kitty-chan. I have way too many kitty-themed items for a woman in her 30s, but I would have to check out the merchandise at Puroland! But you know what I don't like? When they do 'Hawaiian kitty' and give her a tan! I see from your post they've given poor Cinamoroll the same treatment – It really freaks me out!
I like Rilakkuma too! We have a deodoriser in the car, which makes my husband embarassed when he's giving a work colleague a lift, haha. Chococat is cute, too, but I don't know too much about him/her. Oh, and those nyan nyan nyanko books are really cute too! Wait, that's San-X… are there San-X characters at Puroland? And what is 'puro'?

Don't worry, I'm not offended if you don't adore Hello Kitty. I'm a HK fan but I don't have everything Hello Kitty. lol. We used to have a Sanrio store in the mall near my house and I admit that I miss it. I used to love to go in there and just look although I did buy my HK wallet there too. Even though I love her I don't think I'd go to Puroland anyway – too overwhelming. I like the Hello Kitt in a kimono, though. Very kawaii. Thank you sharing the pictures and for the vocabulary words.

haha Patty!! You know what? I'm the total opposite of you! I love Disney characters! I can never get tired of them! I really wish I can go to the Disneyland in US one day!
Do you know there is another Sanrio Park in Kyushu? That one looks more fun actually…haha! It has rides and stuff. I thought that was Puroland when I was finding out how to go there before our trip. Made me so happy because at least there were rollercoasters and decent-looking rides! Haha

Oh! You remind me about Nyan Nyan Nyanko!! I bought a schedule diary of it a few years back! And no…there are no San-X characters at Puroland. You got me there. I have no idea what is Puro. haha!

Yes, it was the summer holidays, so they were dressed in yukatas and summer-wear! I was really charmed by Dear Daniel. I don't know how to explain it, but he oozed Ikemen aura. Hahaha!

Ah! My friend spent a lot of money buying the merchandise there! So crazy! But she was really happy. ^^
And where are you from? They should stock up on Rilakkuma too! Give that guy a chance to be popular too!!! Grrr…haha!

Thank you Apple, I was thinking in the same way as Chiohui. I thought Puroland was for kids, unlike Disneyland is both for kids and adults, somehow. :p

Rilakkuma is from San-X (different company) which means Rilakkuma will never appear in Sanrio Puroland. That said, it's high time San-X opened a dreamland like this. I'd definitely visit if they do!!

Puroland is owned by a company named Sanrio, and Rilakkuma is by San-X. Those 2 companies are similar as they produce kawaii characters but they are competitors. ^ ^;

Hi, My daughter and I love Sanrio too. But I think i am more into it.
Cinnamon and My melody is her favourite. As for me, Hello kitty, my melody, keroppi, Badzmaru had been thoughtout my childhood. That time, I only can see from far and draw onto my Art work. My Parents wouldn't spent this money on me. So I only draw onto my white plain paper. Hahaha..
Some times, Sanrio shop have 500 yen Lucky Dip. I am totally in love with it.
Until now, We have not yet go to Puroland and SanrioPark.
Love Sanrio characters have No Age Limit. Anyone or no matter how old is the person, all can love them.
Don't you think that the world will be colourless if without them!

It looks cute, but I don’t think I’d ever go there, especially if it’s almost all children like Patty said. I really like sanrio items, though. I think Cinnamoroll’s the best. I kind of pretend that he’s a bunny even though I know he’s not. ^^;

Oh, I assumed that San-X was a sub-brand of Sanrio since their names are so similar! Doh! That explains why I can't buy many San-X things here!
I'm going to have to win the lottery before I visit Japan! All these unique things that I'll want to bring back with me!

Haha! Those 2 brands are completely different, you will never be able to buy San-X characters at Sanrio and vice versa. I think Sanrio is much older than San-X.

I was thinking Puroland was for kids but reading this post, I started to feel that it must be myself that limit things from notions and general ideas. (I often do this…) We'll never know after all. ^ ^;

I actually do know about the one in Kyushu, but I was only in Tokyo for a few days, and getting to Kyushu as a foreigner isn't exactly feasiable, but it's on my list for next time.
If and when you come to the States, you must go to both DisneyLand (in LA) and Disney World (in Florida) both gives you a very different experience.

I don't get the fascination with "Kawaii" and characters in Japan. I can understand children having an interest but adults need to grow up and move on to other things. It looks so ridiculous from my perspective. Sorry if my opinion hurts others feelings but I really just don't get why adults go so crazy over children's things.

I personally don't get people who are into figures and plastic models of Gundam for example. But it's just that I don't get that taste, that's all. I have no reason to look down on them or something only because I don't get that.
Everyone's preference is different. For example as for me (Kirin, as this is Apple's post) I like kawaii stuff but I don't feel like visiting Puroland. Disneyland is OK but I don't feel visiting this place, somehow. Everyone is different. What you think cool may not be cool to others. Some call it cool, others call it kawaii, (kawaii has many meanings), and there are still people who think it ridiculous. It's only how people feel about it.
