This is my DECOTTI experience!

Filed under: Kawaii Review, My KawaiiFinally I filmed myself making DECOTTI. It’s been a long long time until finally I reached this point since I wrote the article about DECOTTI last time. But I’m so glad I can finally share my experience of making DECOTTI like this! The video runs long so I cut & edited it at several points. :p
To be honest, I’m not dexterous and so I cannot knit, sew, craft small things very well. So I was a little anxious if I might end up with ugly macaroons when I started this. The filler smelled weird and the tweezers were not easy to use to me, but I am quite satisfied with what I’ve made.
I received from some people who are interested in purchasing DECOTTI, so I actually tried to deal with DECOTTI at my ebay account. (I had no experience at ebay, so I had to start from opening my account.) But the thing is, I found out ebay was not my thing. I don’t want to get myself involved in price competition under several regulations set by ebay. But in case anyone who reads this post might want one for oneself, please contact me from the contact form so that I will personally arrange the chance for you to deal with me, just like among friends. I don’t have intention to run my online shop or auction, so if you look for cheaper one, I think you should try somewhere else. But I could enclose English translated cautions along with the item from my courtesy because there were some written in Japanese on the package, and on the manual.
Decotti Macaroon kit with my English translation of cautions is available from here!
Decotti Tart kit with my English translation of cautions is available from here!
Over a couple of days’ drying, my DECOTTI macaroons are completed with a keychain and a strap! They look so cute! Kawaii!!

Thanks for your comment.

Hi Kirin! Nice video! I'm pretty bad at these arts and crafts things, so I probably would not be able to make such a kawaii decotti. Hahaha.
May 26th, 2009 at 9:48 am
Thank you for your comment here while you must be so busy…but I'm glad I can show you how I look like since I got your image from SOYJOY. (^_^;) I had hard time using the tweezers that came along with the product, but when I changed them to mine, I found it easier. In fact I was not sure if I could ruin the opportunity because I'm not good at crafting…(lol)

Just found your blog from some other blog's chatbox. Your blog is sooooo interesting. Thanks for sharing all the wonderful news and stuff from Japan. I am linking your blog in mine. Will check your blog from time to time
May 26th, 2009 at 2:09 pm
hehe…I know it's called teru teru bozu too but I called it teru-teru for short.
May 26th, 2009 at 2:19 pm
Hi Kirin, thank you so much for this video! I looooove crafts and things like this, but am a little clumsy sometimes, haha. Decotti is definitely something I must try! Will let you know if I dare take the plunge.
May 26th, 2009 at 2:46 pm
Hi kirin! Wow! Your English is SO good! This is a great video for those who wants to try Decotti. The filler material is quite different from what I'm using, as mine dries within 5 minutes, so it's kind of difficult to really arrange the deco parts perfectly according to what I want – I usually had to rush it so that the thing doesn't harden. >.< It's cool that Decotti's filler dries in a few days' time.
Are the tweezers plastic? I think plastic ones are more difficult to use compared to metal ones.
May 27th, 2009 at 1:05 am
Oh then that's from Japanese namings, huh? teru-teru sounds cute!
Thank you so much for your interests in my blog. I'd highly welcome you here!!
May 27th, 2009 at 1:10 am
Hi Lisa,
Ah-, 'clumsy' is the word for 'bukiyou' in Japanese. I wanted to express that in my post but I didn't really reach the word even after searching the word in a dictionery. In fact, I am clumsy, but I am surprised to see the outcome not being bad.
There are several kinds of DECOTTI, macaroon is just one of them. If you try it, I'd love to hear from you!
May 27th, 2009 at 1:18 am
Hi Sing Yee, my sweets deco idol!
Right, as you say, the tweezers that came along with DECOTTI kit are plastic. So I had hard time picking up small rhinestones and that's why I had to change them to my metal ones. Then it was not only because I was too clumsy to use the tweezers, but also because the plastic tweezers are not user friendly, huh? (^_^;) *relief* Good to hear that from you…hahaha!
Your filler dries that quickly?? Then that'll require skills. DECOTTI was good for a beginner like me who has no experience like this in the past. It's so strange but once I do this, I want to do more, and more… :p

hi kirin, about bb creams, i use only a little (like the size of a small red bean) for my whole face, and i use oil cleanser (like fancl or DHC) to clean my face at the end of the day. it's true, i find that if i use too much bb cream, it looks very fake because bb cream is thick and the coverage is usually very good, unlike lotion foundation. i hope this helps!
May 27th, 2009 at 11:26 am
The video post is really helpful. Now I want to try it out too!
May 27th, 2009 at 2:14 pm

It's fun, indeed! Now I know why people like things like this.
May 28th, 2009 at 2:51 pm
Hi Cherry.
Thank you so much for your comment here. (0_0;) …your stupid country? Oh, no way, Japan is just unique and cuteness is something that entire nation loves over here. I thought such things (kawaii or cuteness) might be regarded childish from other countries, especially from Western culture, but in fact I can see now there are people in love with cuteness in other countries, too. I'm quite happy with that.
(*^_^*) I like cute things, kawaii stuff, etc. but I am not wearing myself kawaii makeup & kawaii hairstyles, like Koda Kumi. She's making every effort to make herself look prettier. But as for myself…(-_-;) I'm lazy and I wear as less makeup as possible.(x _ x)
As I'm the only writer and owner of this blog, my blog may not be updated very frequently, but I hope you enjoy the rest of my posts. Also, I'm trying to broadcast more videos from now on. So I'll be in touch with you!!
May 28th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
Ok, thanks for Your reply! ^ ^ I am sooo happy! Btw. sorry for my bad English x_x
And I am so sad…. Japan is wonderful. I am not 18
So I can't go there alone! My parents don't want to take me there!!>.> *cry*
But my country is really stupid -__-" I wish to have Decotti kit but I can't
Ah, yes (^_^) Kumi is wonderful! She is my favourite singer. She's the best! ^ ^ I'm collecting her CDs, etc. Kuu 4ever!
Kuu-chan is my love haha ^O^ I am excited you like her as well.=)
Okaaaay, so I am waiting for Your new notes! Btw. I really want to meet You! You must be such kawaii Girl! You are kawaii
I hope we can become a good friends. Kissu! *chuu*
May 29th, 2009 at 1:36 pm
Btw. I have to tell you something! ^ ^
May 30th, 2009 at 3:39 am
Hi Cherry.
You are such a young girl! Under 18? Wow~, I miss such young days of mine…hehe. :p
You'll be surprised to know my age. I look young but my actual age is…may be I could say that I live twice of your age!
But I like to communicate with different aged or generations of people, people from different countries, and ect.
Even though I get aged, I like kawaii things.
Well I actually don't know much about J-pop, because I rarely have any time for watching TV and listening to new music, etc. But Kuu-chan is so popular in Japan, of course. She is the top idol of ero-kawaii (sexy kawaii) in Japan, I guess.
If you want to contact me directly and privately, you can do that from the contact page or from the about page where you'll see a contact form available.

Awe yours came out so professional!!! You make it look so easy but I always worry I'll do it wrong, hahaha. Maybe someday I'll get brave enough to try one!?
June 6th, 2009 at 8:55 am
Hi Jenny. Thank you for your comment.
Oh~, really? I'm not so good at crafting and so I thought I should delete the video if I make something ugly. But I'm quite happy with what I made. It was not that hard. :p
June 7th, 2009 at 4:00 pm
Yumi is your Japanese name?
I wish I could open my account, but I have a strong feeling that I might not be able to catch up with it. I mean I would leave it without log-in for a long time. That's all because I have to handle several other social networking accouts (Youtube, flickr, twitter, and more and more) that I've opened so far, and so I am busy checking them once in a while as well as this blog comments. (@_@)~ But if I have a chance to have my pupe, I'll paste the code to my blog so you'll see. Enjoy your kawaii world, Cherry~!

Hello from Finland!
I had my first experience with Decotti few days ago (I got it from my friend who lives in Tokyo) and I loved it, it was so facinating and therapeutic too. I would love to trade with you…
June 29th, 2009 at 11:24 am
I've replied to you by email the other day. Please check it out. Thanks!
July 6th, 2009 at 10:55 am
I really liked your decotti video, I love kawaii stuff but it's not so easy to find here in Norway, I was wondering if you knew of any japanese online shops in English, where I can order cute stuff? I've checked a few of your shop links but they are in Japanese…. You have a nice site, I love arts and crafts
July 6th, 2009 at 1:12 pm
Hi Ella, thank you for your comment, which makes me happy! ^_^
Have you checked this link?
http://event.rakuten.co.jp/borderless/index_en.ht…
The banner is in the sidebar, the red banner in Japanese. It's Rakuten; The most famous and biggest Japanese online mall. But their translation is automatic and you may have hard time searching the very items you are looking for.
So what I am thinking is, I am wondering of my sending free kawaii email newsletters to the likeminded people, just like you, in which I introduce kawaii goods available in Rakuten. You may not know the right keyword, and even so, the automatic translation may not find the word. So what I can do for you is to search the goods in Japanese and find the store first, and then hit the store name in English to reach out exact items for the members like you.
I've been wondering if there are people who like to be enrolled in my newsletter as such.
If there are certain chunk of people, I'll set up an opportunity, but what do you think?
July 7th, 2009 at 8:09 am
Hi:
I hope a lot of people sign up for that. It would be so much easier for people like me, that want to buy stuff but just don't know where to find it because of the language problem. And thanks for the link, please let me know if you start sending out those newsletters, I've subscribed to your youtube channel too:D
thank you for replying so fast
The newsletter sounds like a great idea
Have a nice day
July 8th, 2009 at 1:09 am
OK, Ella. I'll think about the newsletter. It was nice exchanging messages with you, as I was wondering who might want the service like that. Your message gave me sort of… momentum, I'd say.
When I complete the newsletter and open it for subscribers, I'll paste the opt-in form in my blog sidebar or something so you won't miss it as long as you keep turned on to this blog.
I'll try my best, although it may take time… :p

were can i buy decotti ! but i'm hir in philipines ? were
August 8th, 2009 at 1:31 pm
@trixxie and @jane
If you cannot find it in your area, what about trying to buy it from Japan and get it delivered to you? Check out the right sidebar of this blog, and you see red banner with R mark in Japanese. That's the Japanese online shopping mall and you can shop in English. Enter decotti, and you'll find poor English translation because of automatic, but they sell cheaper! They still may seem expensive to some people, but original price is as much as 30USD and is official retail price.
I have no idea where you can buy it in your area, because I am Japanese living in Japan. I only can tell you Japanese shops info. Sorry for that.

Hi Kirin, this is carmen from Australia. I think your idea of sending kawaii email newsletters is great, as I found it hard to get around in Rakuten. Pls let me know how to subscibe to your newsletters and i would definately subscribe to it!

Thank you for your opinion. You gave me a chance to reconsider the matter, and so I wrote a post to ask this to other readers. (http://tokyokawaiietc.com/archives/3326) Depending on their reactions, I may or may not start this.
