Hello Kitty tactics

Filed under: My Kawaii***This post is originally from my previous blog, “Japanese Cuisine Daily Recipes & Something Kawaii From Harajuku?“.
Hello Kitty is just so famous and has been always around since I was born.
The designers have also changed as time passes, but still Kitty-chan (This is how it’s called in Japanese) looks almost the same no matter how much we get old.
I believe there is no one who hates this adorable, kawaii character, especially among young girls!
The thing I like about Kitty-chan is that they will never make us bored with the same character for over 20 or 30 years. They(Sanrio, the producer of Kitty-chan) always have been challenging something new.
Â
For example, these days there are limited Kitty version available at each local train station in Tokyo or even some sightseeing areas in Japan. (You cannot actually buy the one at every JR station of Tokyo. But for example you can get it at a convenience store right out of the Harajuku station.)
When I go to Akihabara, then I can find Kitty-chan with Akiba version.
Isn’t that cool?
This gives us a value of localized originality and some people may like collecting different versions as souvenirs for themselves, whenever they travel inside the country.
Wonder if they have local versions of major cities in the world, like Kitty in L.A, Kitty in Hong Kong, Kitty in Kuala Lumpur, etc.? That must be so fun for both producers and collecters!!
