RanKing ranQueen store is one of the best places to check out what’s new and selling best now in Japan. The Shibuya head store has about 10 of other branch shops and they sell cosmetics, CD, books, snack, beverages, and other convenient goods or diet goods that are currently popular and selling well.
Just like convenience stores anywhere, there’s no discount prices basically, but the stores are located inside the train stations, hence they open until 11:00 pm or 11:30 pm, depending on each store. (Some close at 9:00 pm.) So it’s fun to look around the store while you wait for the train, even if you don’t buy anything. The photo was taken a little while before Halloween. Somehow it’s become a popular event since several years ago. Originally that event is for the U.S but we just import & imitate it “for fun”. I don’t think that is respectable though…I have this feeling that it won’t be long until we import Easter “for fun” without any cultural or religious thoughs underneath the event, just like Christmas is celebrated to deepen love between lovers, totally ignoring the fact that it was a birthday of Jesus Christ… |
