Jero, the hottest ENKA singer now in Japan!

author Posted by: kirin on date Aug 30th, 2008 | filed Filed under: what's new?

***This post is originally from my previous blog, “Japanese Cuisine Daily Recipes & Something Kawaii From Harajuku?“.

jero Jero, the hottest ENKA singer now in Japan! How can enyone imagine this hip-hop looking guy sings ENKA in Japanese?
His name is Jero. According to his official site, he’s from the U.S and he came to Japan in 2003 to be an Enka singer.

When I fist saw this CD jacket, I had no doubt and thought that he’d be a new hip-hop singer or something that I might wanna check out later.

So I found my eyes wide open when I saw some videos of his singing Enka in Japanese.
Here’s one sample from Youtube. The title of the song is Umiyuki (海雪).

His grandma is Japanese and wow, his Japanese singing is so awesome and just by listening it, anyone would never believe he’s American…
Actually, Enka is not popular among young people.
That sort of music is mostly supported by elder people over the age of 50 or something.
But Jero may change the world. I can see young people who had never paid any attention to Enka songs now cannot help checking out this black Enka singer. He’s amazing!!

Rilakkuma UFO catcher

author Posted by: kirin on date Aug 28th, 2008 | filed Filed under: my kawaii

UFO catcher Rilakkuma toys in UFO catcher always draw my attention.
But I’ve never been good at playing with UFO catcher.
I’d rather buy the one I like, and so, currently I have 1 x Rilakkuma (the brown bear) and 1 x KoRilakkuma (the white one) at home. (^_^;)
I think it would be so fun if I were good at this game, as I can get the toy for only 300 yen (US$3) or so. But I know I’m just losing changes, the more I play the more I lose without gaining anything. I wish I could practice it for free as much as I like until I can learn the trick. (^_^)

Starting up a new blog!

author Posted by: kirin on date Aug 26th, 2008 | filed Filed under: Uncategorized

I am in the process of transferring my current site “Japanese cuisine daily recipes & something kawaii from Harajuku?” ( http://jcdrkawaii.blogspot.com/ ) here.

As my internet-related technical skills are very poor, it may take a while until this gets ready.
Also, moving this self-domained site from free Blogger blog means, I have to ask my readers/ subscribers to register RSS/ Google reader, or whatever reader subscription here again, which may be troublesome but I’m sorry I don’t know if there should be any better ways other than that.

Choosing Wordpress platform, buying a domain name, renting a hosting server, and deciding to keep managing my blog in English, my second language, required me some time to think about.
That’s because they are all challenging to me.

There was time that I’d thought I should not, but the other day, I had a strong motivation that I have to DO THIS!  (I hope I can tell you about this later.)  So I moved forward, a big one step, and here I am with my new blog today!

I’ll try to make this blog filled with more information than the current one, since this allows me to have tabs to jump between pages. (I like that.) Well, I have to do so many things for setups.  I’ll keep posting for a current blog for a while until I get used to this one.

Catch you later!
