Last time I thought Makudake diet was the easiest and I continued that way for a while. But the problem was the rubber belt. The flat rubber belt stuck in warm weather and it was not easy to handle. I didn’t like that the belt never stayed flat but some parts were kept folded. Well, that might be my fault, I could have kept it in a good manner though. I was upset with the messed belt, one part is stuck with the other part as if it was melt in heat or something. Then I threw it away finally…:p

When I first saw this mook + pillow set at a book store, I thought of what had become of the rubber belt. But 1000yen was not a big deal to give it a try, and it was actually amazing! I will keep lying down on the pillow and see how my waist changes even thinner. :p

First of all, I have to confess that it was my very first nail experience. I’ve never had my nails done by someone else. The reason is simple. I thought that I had to grow my nails or adhere some artificial long nails on my natural nails, which I don’t like. Secondly, when nails grow in 3 weeks and I must pay nearly 10,000yen, it’s just too much for me. Thirdly, I simply don’t have time to do that.

But when my good friend needs some models and it’s offered at a discounted price from their original price, I cannot ignore her. I wanted to help her whatever! Moreover, I just learned I don’t have to grow my nails or add extra length on my nails if I choose Calgel nails. The good news about Calgel nails is that it’s not going to damage my natural nails. Finally I can see my friend and chat with her while I have my nails done by her. This sounds good.

This is the nail booth within the total beauty salon. It’s an AVEDA total beauty salon with spa, nail, hair, headspa, eyelash, and make-up services. I like such inclusive service and the atmosphere of the salon is really nice!

This time I had hand care and Calgel for my fingernails, so it was done in this place.

Lena suggests very nicely from a professional’s point of view. Whatever she suggests always make sense to me, but she never pushes you her opinions. I really like the way she is. Oh! You know how we became friends? She was a reader of TKE! We met 2 times when she visited Japan before, but who knew then that she was moving to Tokyo later? ^_^

She shortened and shaped my fingernails, did cuticle care, buffed the surface of my nails with a very gentle sponge buffer, then after carefully wiping the nails with antiseptic and a special preparatory liquid, she started to apply the clear gel base.

If you don’t like to apply any colors on your nails, you can just ask for this transparent one (clear gel). She told me some men also like to do this. But I liked to apply something kawaii, of course! ***Nail design samples in the below picture are photoshopped (blurred) to protect the copyright of their design. These days I somehow like blue color. So I asked her to make a blue color between two different blue colors I saw from the sample. The good thing about this nail salon is that they can create nail colors that are not found from the sample colors. Some nail salons do not offer that service, according to Lena. It looked so fun to create a new color from some different color powder.

Finally my desired color was painted.

I was asked to cure my nails under UV light every time she applied, so that the gel hardened. You must be familiar with such if you have experienced Calgel before. But everything was the first experience to me, I was delighted and excited at each step, which must have seemed like a child to Lena! Haha!!

Now colors were applied. I chose a different color for only forefingers.

Then she applied glittering dots and stones, but unfortunately I couldn’t take photos then because other hand was always under the light. ^ ^;;

I totally loved these nails she made for me! Now I think I know why people get so crazy about nails. Every time I look at my own nails, I feel so great! I never thought nails can bring me such joyful moment. I’d love to frequent if only I can afford it so often. Everything was so perfect and I had such a comfortable and relaxing 2.5 hours at the nail salon.

Wow, the entrance gives totally different image from the sign I saw on the street. ^ ^;; OK…

A cup of tea was served. It’s to prevent from dizziness from heat. Then I was told to be naked and wear a gown provided by them. Then I washed off sunscreen and makeup before I entered the sand salt bathroom. Thank goodness, it was not stinky. It smelled like hinoki. The sand, the salt or the bathroom didn’t give off any bad smells, which made me relieved. ^ ^ I was told to lie down on the sand. It was comfortable and very warm.

I was attended by one of the staff all the time while I am in the sand. She covered my body with sand. As soon as my feet were covered I felt something unusual. My toes were pounding badly! Then my fingers too! It was like “I had my butterflies in my feet and hands”. The blood circulation went so well that my blood was very strongly and rapidly pounding in my toes and fingers, which was even scary! “You will immediately start feeling pounding at your fingers but please don’t get panic, that’s natural and that’s a good sign that your body gets better blood circulation.” I was told then but I was restless because that experience was not comfortable. Well, even if my body enjoys good blood circulation, I was restless with that unusual movement.

I was supposed to be laid in the sand for 10-15 minutes but I told her I had enough before it reached 10 minutes. I was scared if I may faint in the heat with even stronger pounding, so I thought I’d better tell her I want to stop while I am still conscious. ^ ^;; (This sounds scary, haha!)

My gown was totally wet with my sweat. I didn’t notice I was sweat. I think I ended up with paying attention to my fingers too much. Hmm…I didn’t enjoy this bathing. But after taking a shower, then came second sweating phase.

After taking a shower, I wore a new gown and was led to this room.

I sat down on the arm chair, placed my legs on ottoman, covered with towels and blanket to be kept warm. Several different hot tea, umeboshi (a pickled Japanese apricot) and salt were provided there to replenish what I lost from sweating in the bath.

I have no idea how many cups of hot tea I was served there. But I stayed there for over an hour and kept sweating so well. I also received a head massage there. I liked this period. I wanted to rest my body completely after I came back from Singapore. I’ve been busy since I was travelling. Just sleeping long hours didn’t really help me eliminate fatigue because I’ve accumulated it. ^ ^;;

I loved the time to be alone and quietly sweat and relax while drinking some healthy teas. But I don’t really like the bathing itself, because of the fear of faint from too much heat as well as unusual pounding as mentioned above. How my skin turned after the bathing and sweating? I think it went good, but not as good as it is after Ganbanyoku, which is because I put some skin lotion on the face. After I finish Ganbanyoku, I don’t even feel like wearing lotion or serum because my skin is soooo good as it is. Putting something on it would make me feel as if I were deteriorating my face skin. So, the fact that I put skin lotion means my skin was not like the one after Ganbanyoku. As a conclusion, I still prefer Ganbanyoku or hot yoga on the Ganban plate!!
