Rakuten is the biggest & most popular online shopping mall in Japan. I often purchase the goods for my dog, electric appliances, books at some stores that belong to Rakuten.
So today when I was looking for a toothpaste & tooth care item for my dog, I happened to find this funny looking Edamame toy. Just by looking I thought this toy might be related to Puchimoe because the concept just seemed similar. And yes, I was right! |
This kind of toy looks funny and a little bit weird to me.
I’m not a kind of person who kills time by playing with this sort of gadget, but it’s fun enough to introduce here at my blog
When we eat Edamame we press the Edamame bag to put out the beans.
This toy is just the same but it looks like beans never drop off, so we have to keep pressing the bag until we get bored. (This is the point of the toy. There should be some good feeling with that.) Also it’s kinda cute that beans have the 12 types of “face” which you will never know which one of them to be delivered when you order.

They have many similar products.

What do you think of this?
Funny? Weird? Stupid? Wanna try?

I think it’s cute. I remember visiting Tokyo when I was in my teens and had fun shopping for Sanrio stuff. I read somewhere that Japanese like cute things.

@Ageless,
True. I think being cute (kawaii) doesn’t matter which gender or age we belong to in this country. Kawaii things are always around, and people just love to have character goods daily.
Private enterprises always collaborate with character business and sales promotion goods are often printed with famous characters.

When I saw this cute little thing all my memories of Tokyo tour once again came infront of me and made me emotional. I like Japanese they are friendly believe when I was leaving Japan I cried.

@doug,
Do you manage the Forum about Tokyo?
Wow, it looks interesting to see how foreigners write about this city. You had such a good experience in Japan. We are not so good at communicating in English but I believe most of us are basically very friendly but just so shy.

Fo a moment there I thought u were talking abt Edammer – dutch cheese – haha. The spelling is rather similar, dont u think ?
Nice toy for ur pet dog (a he or a she ?) n would keep it chewing for hours on end. My hubby had 4 dogs b4 I came into his life ! Last nite we were talking abt Chica, his little white Scottish terrier (passed away 15yrs ago) who has accepted me after a few loud barks. She was absolute boss aound the house, so it was an honour to be allowed in without being bitten – haha. She has lots of toys n always demands attention (like jumping onto our laps with a toy in her mouth) until we played with her. After half hour, she would go for a snooze in her basket. We had such happy memories of her n ur article makes me think of her

@Dutchie,
Hahaha…Edamame and Edammer? Funny!!

Well actually this is not a toy for dog. It’s for human.
I make original casual toy for my dog (it’s a 5-month-old girl).
I understand how happy it is to have a life with dog now.
I used to think it should be much of sacrifice, but now, I enjoy my life with her so much!
If you are interested in, I have a blog about her in Japanese which you can at least enjoy photos.
It’s in a brogroll, Kirin’s another blog in Japanese.
Dogs, even they look all the same, when they belong to the same type, they are all different. Each one has unique character or personality (?) just like us. So no other Scottish terrier will be exactly the same as Chica, right?
My dog’s name is Pino. I call her Pi-chan.

Kirin !!!
Ooh, ur Pi-chan is soooo cute ! I can understand how u feel for her !
When my hubby n I go for our evening walks, we always meet people walking their dogs. In fact 2 of them r exactly the same pedigree as Chica. It’s true they all hv their own personality.
My hubby always stop by to pat the dogs n “chat” with them. He has a great fondness for the 4-footers (so called in dutch).
Who looks after Pi-chan when u n ur hubby r at work ?

@Dutchie,
Thanks! Glad you checked out Pi-chan photos right away.
(It’s rather difficult to take good photos as dogs are always moving, especially when they make funny look or cute look, don’ t you think so?)
In our case, my hubby works outside but I work from home, so I’m the one who takes care of her everyday. Dogs need to walk outside everyday, which is sort of discouragement that we tend to give up keeping them and is not easy as keeping cats.
So we took several years until finally this summer we decided to have Pi-chan for over 10 years in our life.
How about you? It’d have been busy taking care of as many as 4 dogs.

Hi Kirin,
Yes, it’s difficult to catch memorable moments of a dog. Still it’s worth having the patience to do it ! When my hubby first had Chica, she could fit into the palm of his hand – so tiny was she then, n she loves to hide under couch where we couldnt reach her – like playing hide n seek.
Oh, hubby didnt hv 4 dogs all at once, just one at a time, Chica was the last one. Here the weather is often too cold n very chilling winds, so it’s very hard to walk the dog 4 times a day. Worse was when it rains – ugh .. hv to clean the dog !
Since the arrival of the internet, it has become our main hobby. We still go for regular walks though – walking off the calories after dinner

@robert-Gilles,
Hi. You have so many nice cooking recipes to be shared in both blogs of yours.
*sugoine!*
My English is also a bit funny, I guess, when read by native English speakers.

Don’t worry!
Your English is a lot better than that of my students!
Cheers,

Aw man, it’s so cute. XD Reminds me of that button with endless bubble wrap to pop! Or the one that makes a 1up/other Mario sounds. XD I think at least one of those was Japanese too..

It is so cute…. I saw so many things made out of this Edamame when I was in Tokyo. And I like to eat Edamame too but I cook different things with it though..
