I wanted to bring my foreign friend to Izakaya that has “Japanese” taste. I found it in Shibuya. I feel quite convenient myself located somewhere close to Shibuya. Although I don’t like crowds, there is always something interesting to check out there. :p It’s located back behind the Tokyu Plaza. It’s not quite back side of Tokyu Plaza, but you will never miss the lighting sign that looks like a paper lantern at the very entrance of the Izakaya.

There is a stairway to go down to the Izakaya. Wow…it’s already very Japanese~!! I tend to choose Italian or French or Spanish restaurant if I eat out with my hubby or Japanese friends. So in that sense, hanging out with foreign friends who are visiting Japan for a moment is a good chance for me to explore something very Japanese. icon smile Thats Japanese Izakaya!!

When you want to have a drink or dinner at Izakaya, you’d better make a reservation. Especially reservation is a must on Friday night. Also, most of Izakaya set 2-hour limit on Friday night. Meaning, you can not stay there any longer than 2 hours, because there are so many people who want to drink at Izakaya on Friday night. As for me, I always make a reservation because I don’t want to be kept waiting. I also like to book a private room so we can enjoy more relaxed conversation without caring about people next table. If you are a couple, I’d definitely recommend a private room!! icon wink Thats Japanese Izakaya!!

There is a river (not that big, so shall I call it a brook instead?) inside the Izakaya, and even some small fish!!

A bridge to cross the brook. There are some other similar kind of Izakaya restaurants that have Japanese tastes. But as is often the case with themed restaurants in Japan, their food is bad. But this restaurant was not bad, and of course I studied that in advance!

There are some tatami rooms, too. But I personally don’t like to sit down on the floor. I’m sure most of foreign people would feel the same way. If I had to sit on tatami, I want a hole under table so that I can put my legs. Oh, too bad I forgot to take our table and private space! >_<

We had more food and drinks but again I forgot to take pictures. My attention is always glued to the food once I see it, and that’s one of the reasons I’ve screwed many chances of writing a blog post from my eat-out experiences. ^ ^;

It looks like the Izakaya Hatsutsubomi has a branch restaurant in Akihabara. Akihabara is not quite my area, but I think I will try cosplay sometime in the future since I liked it so much from cosplay purikura. lol

    Wow, that place looks amazing. I didn't get to see anything like that when I was in Japan.

    I enjoy reading your blog. I'm learning a bit about current Japanese culture here. Thank you!

  2. Lore Said,

    OOOOOooooo amazing place!!!! I'll write about it on my list of places I'd like to visit in Japan, and I think I choose the table on the floor, it make it a totaly japanese experience!!!

    Thanks! ^^

    By the way, wich is your favourite spanish dish?? I like very much "Macarrones con atún y tomate" ( macaroni with tuna and tomato) and "Huevos fritos con patatas" (fried eggs with fried potatos)

  3. kirin Said,

    Thank you for your comment, Julie. I went to your blog and tried to comment on the Sanrio's event but I had nothing I could choose as ID, and so I couldn't leave a comment there, but it looks so fun!

  4. kirin Said,

    I don't know many Spanish dishes but last time I tried escargot (I don't know if you call it in this way) at a Spanish restaurant for the first time and I liked it. Also I love paella a lot. Iberico pork is also nice. ^ ^ I want to visit Spain someday. But I have to practice Spanish more. ^ ^;

  5. sedonia2 Said,

    What a beautiful place and the food looks amazing. I wish we had something like that here.

  6. Slywan Said,

    Breathtaking place !!!
    So beautiful. Don't know if food is good (you seem to like, so I rely on your taste ;) ) but it is definitelly somewhere to go in Tokyo. Thanks for sharing this.

  7. kirin Said,

    Even me as a local felt at ease at the place. I should've taken more pictures, but I guess I was into our conversations then…

  8. kirin Said,

    Food was not bad. When I go to Izakaya with foreign friends, I usually let them choose what they want, and I choose only 1 dish or otherwise I just give them suggestions. It's also good because I eat what I wouldn't choose if I were with my husband. I can challenge food I miss from my eating habit.

  9. Lore Said,

    UUU escargot is more like a French dish and in spanish is call "Caracoles" I never tried it and probably I'll never do it XD.
    I like paella too, I think it 's the most international dish of spanish food. And Iberico pork ("Jamón Ibérico or Jamón serrano) is the best of the world jajajajaja.
    Any douth you have about spanish don't be afraid and ask me ;P

  10. kirin Said,

    No quieres comer caracoles? Porque no? :p
    Muchas gracias por tu ayuda, quando voy a viajar a Espana.
    (Poquito Espanol…^ ^ jejeje That's all I can say. lol)
