Hello Kitty stamp

Filed under: RamblingIt might be too late to blog about this when I consider these stamps were on sale about 3 weeks from now, but I found them at a post office today.
They are cute, but I wonder if I’ll ever write letters or postcards so often. I already have a lot of old postal stamps left at home that I bought long time ago. I wish I could exchange them for real bucks now that I almost completely rely on email. (lol)
However, it’s so nice if I write a letter or a postcard once in a while with such a cute stamp on. I miss my school days when there was no emails, cell phones, even PC… we liked to exchange cute letters with cute stickers among friends. Now when I write to someone, that is more likely a message card that doesn’t need a postal stamp on because I am with it. (lol) If I try to send my friends new years cards, we usually buy the cards with postal fee including because they have lottery numbers.
Year after year I have less opportunities to use postal stamps, so why should I get more now? I talked to myself, I shouldn’t need them unless I sell them later at an auction or somewhere. (lol)

You'd make a fair amount selling these on eBay outside of Japan

Cute stamps, and I know what you mean. I cannot remember the last time I sent a real letter

OOO they're so cute. It's true that now it is easier to send an email than a letter but I would like to recieve a letter with a kawaii stamp like this ^^

I missed the old days of writing letters too. There's something so nice that when you open your mailbox and get something specially for you. Nowadays, all I get are bills and junk mail, it'd be nice to get some regular mail.

So cute! I love to write snail mail letters… I buy a lot of cute stationery, but there really is not too much chance to use them XD

Yea…I thought of that. :p But somehow I cannot imagine myself as an eBay seller. I am away from Yahoo auction in Japan as well. I don't know why buy these things seem to be a bit difficult to me.

I wonder what I should do with my cute letter sets that I haven't used for years to come. ^ ^;

I agree! It's so meaningful today to receive a real letter with a nice envelope and a stamp! It's far different from a simple email. Hmmm…I wonder how often I can do that. ^ ^;

I collect stamps, I've got plenty of 'em kept in a box here. These stamps you've shared are pretty interesting and very very cute. I sure would like to have any of these.

A lot of people buy stamps just to collect them – I was a stamp collector when I was very young. These stamps will certainly be popular with collectors. I think if you sold them on ebay, you'd find lots of buyers who are collectors.
At first I was thinking, the U.S. postal service would never issue a "cute" stamp, but then I remembered, they have done that! In 2009, for example, they issued stamps featuring characters from " The Simpsons" TV cartoon series. Google 'simpson stamps' to see what these looked like. There have also been stamps of Charlie Brown and of Disney characters.

It looks like Japanese post office issue Hello Kitty stamps almost every year. Also, they have other famous character stamps and cute stamps too. That means you still have a chance to reach them someday when you visit Japan.

The Simpsons! LOL I liked to watch it when I was staying in Australia 10 years ago. I have a set of 3 video cassette tapes but you know it's video, not DVD. So I cannot watch them any more. When I was in California, which is about 15 years ago, I collected stamps of Norman Rockwell's works. Old days~.

i second to selling this as well !
but then again, i dont use ebay. i have the impression that ebay is not safe and shipping will get ridiculously high.

I don't like to make use of eBay either. I never actually used it even though I opened my account.

How much of different postage stamps with Hello Kitty exist?
September 2nd, 2010 at 7:15 am
I have no idea, because Hello Kitty stamps are issued every year!
June 1st, 2011 at 3:53 pm
Hello dear, can you help me to buy those stamps please?
June 2nd, 2011 at 2:45 am
You can use these stamps only in Japan, when you post a letter or a card, but is that OK?
If you are interested, please contact me from the contact form with how many you want. http://tokyokawaiietc.com/contact
But you'll have to know the total price will be much more than itself, including my handling charge, inbound shipping charge, international shipping charge, and etc.

Wow, now hello kitty post stamps, they are everywhere:)
August 15th, 2011 at 4:41 pm
I've read something about those stamps being available only in Japan. Does any one know if I can use those in US?
August 17th, 2011 at 5:56 am
No, they should be used in Japan only. They are issued in Japanese Yen.
It's the same thing, your US stamps purchased with US dollar cannot be used in Japan or Europe right? It's the same thing.

They are so cute, they would be a great addition for my stamp collection. I agree with you during my teenage years writing letter is a trend and a fun thing to do but now people had depended a lot on the technology we had I miss those old days wherein I get so excited writing a letter for my friends and get one in return.
September 11th, 2011 at 11:46 am
Right. So today when I receive a physical letter or a postcard, I get so happy. ^_^ It's always so nice to read my friends' hand-writing letters in some cute letter pad.
September 17th, 2011 at 9:28 pm
Sure. I like to think that rather than it being sad that technology makes writing physical letters less popular, it makes the process of sending and receiving them so much more special. Writing a proper letter will never become extinct.

"It makes the process of sending and receiving them so much more special"….I agree with you!! ^ ^

My sister loves Hello Kitty stuffs and she even have tons of them in her room. But stamps? I'm not sure if she has one. She's more into stickers and others. I'll tell her about this for she'd surely love to know about this stuff! Thanks for sharing this! I owe you one!
September 25th, 2011 at 1:44 am
Haha, maybe stamps are only available in Japan, the country that gave birth to Hello Kitty. ^ ^;;
June 21st, 2012 at 11:44 am
This is the extent of Hello Kitty reach. Japanese would have been more inclined towards printing Manga or Pokemon stamps. And by the way, are you still interested to get rid of those stamps in your stationery box at their face value?
July 4th, 2012 at 8:41 am
And I'm even far way outdated from this post. But I found your stamps really cute. I suggest you keep these all with you, you might not know, you'll be using these cute Hello Kitty stamps again in the near future. Hello Kitty stamps like this aren't available in our country , the're no way to get such cute stamps actually, but I'll sure but some when I get to visit Japan. I'm pretty sure, lots of hello kitty stamps there.

My girlfriend will love them! She's a stamp collector and yes, she have ancient ones and new ones too. She's got some collectors edition that she lets no one touch. She probably haven't heard about this but I'm sure if she had, she will look up a friend whose in Japan and will request to buy them for her. Hello Kitty is so cute.
July 7th, 2012 at 1:16 pm
In Japan, Hello Kitty stamps are often available and I can buy others in different design when I use this up. ^ ^ It's not only Hello Kitty but I also saw One Piece stamps Doraemon stamps and many other popular characters and anime characters on postal stamps in Japan. ^ ^
I'd suggest your girlfriend to visit any bigger post office in Japan to ask if they have Hello Kitty stamps when she has a chance to visit Japan. ^ ^

My daughter will definitely be thrilled about this. She loves to collect hello kitty items.I have a friend who works in Japan. Maybe she will be generous enough to get one for me.
