Dog Rental

Pet shop “Candy” in Yokohama has a rental dog service. This kind of service is familiar to me as we have “Puppy the world” in Odaiba, Tokyo. Anyhow, the pet shop Candy offers the following price.
1050yen per hour
10500yen for 3 nights
Hmmm…this is quite reasonable when it’s compared with the one from Odaiba, I think. But the difference is that the Odaiba’s rental dogs were the specialists. (I once tried to rent a dog from them before I keep a dog.) They work as a rental dog, so they are not basically for sale. They are the selected dogs who can be friendly to any “customers”. They are well trained. But the dogs from Candy are basically for sales. Just like the old woman in the video, users who once rent a dog from this pet store will be likely to have a special attachment to the dog, and eventually they will decide to buy it. Wow, what a business!?
Whatever it is…I think it’s good to try something before we make a big decision. When we decide to live with a dog, we have to be committed to walk him or her everyday, and we have to take a great care of it no matter how we are tired or busy. Renting 3 days may not be enough to get all these things, but far better than without, if we cannot get the image of keeping a dog. Well, I may want to rent one from the store and see if she can be compatible with Pi-chan.
What do you think of rental dogs?
Are you familiar with such service in your country?

I think it sounds like a great idea for those who want to know what its like to own a dog before they buy one. like myself for example, I really want to buy a little dog, a little fluffy Shih Tzu like your Pi-Chan (there so Kawaii!), however, I've never brouth up a Dog before, all ive had are Cats… and Whilst im almost good with All Animal's and Dog's seem to have this thing for wanting to only sit near me or ontop of me lol, i still havent got a clue on how to raise on or what to do with one. so the idea of being able to hire a dog sounds very appeling to me!
This is why i wish at times we had things like this over in the UK. But oh well… i guess if we did then Japan wouldnt be as Speical to me as it is.

Keeping a dog needs much labor, but still it deserves! You can feel how much you are healed by your dog when you are back totally stressed out, or tired from your work, human relationship, and etc. Pi-chan for example is so pure and I see no diffrence between small human babies. She cannot speak any languages but my life with her now and without her before is something so different! One of the funniest things is that I didn't like small kids before, but since I keep Pi-chan, omg, I start to like them. It's only a dog, but it can change how you think.

I have to check this place out sometimes. I wonder if the dogs get confused with so many new part time owner sans. They say that a dog takes on the personality of its owner, so they must be very interesting characters ^^
I really like your blog, very interesting posts always.

Thank you! I think that's why the rental dogs from Odaiba are the selected dogs that are well trained. It looks like there are some places that offer rental dog services in Japan.

o.o that's boring, no pets but fish? My hubby keeps fish, but hmmm….I don't know how to communicate with them. Unlike dog, fish don't show their feelings apparently.

Kirin, do you remember the train station nearest to Puppy the World? I'm forever only going to the malls (like Aqua City) at Odaiba but have not visited the shops at street level. I don't know where they are! =P

It's Tokyo Teleport station on JR Rinkai line. I rarely go to Odaiba, so I checked it out for you.

It's not cheap. Well the store in the video looks reasonable because it's about USD10 per hour. Usually they will charge us more.
