What kind of face do you want to have? Young girls in Tokyo want to have a face like following Japanese celebrities. Namie Amuro, YOU, Suzanne, Kaera Kimura, Aoi Miyazaki, Keiko Kitagawa, Erika Sawajiri, Nozomi Sasaki.
They indeed are so pretty!
In Japan, orthopedic operation is not as popular as in Korea. Suzanne looks like mixed blood, but she is full Japanese. She makes her face look like half, but she does that by makeup.
Mr. Tamura (TamTam) is a specialist to "dekame" (big round eyes).
His makeup gives us the impression of orthopedic surgery. He is so popular as to take care of cover girls for many fashion magazines.
Many of the Japanese do not have double folded eyelids but we think Western beauty is the beauty. That's why we have to rely on such an interesting gadget to make double folded eyelids. It's made of fiber tape and it's to be glued on the eyelids.
Japanese people like "dekame" (dekai=big me=eye(s)) and so, fake eyelashes are selling crazy. 100 yen shop in Harajuku deals with as many as 38 kinds of disposable fake eyelashes. There are also tourists from Australia who shop them to cover the usage of 1 year!
Let's take a look how high school girls wearing fake eyelashes. They use 2 or 3 different kinds of combination and spend as much as 1 hour to complete their dekame! "New half" means beautiful men and transsexuals dressed in women's clothes. Sometimes they act more feminine than real women. The hair wig store in Shibuya developped the one for Namie Amuro, a famous Jpop singar, and their wigs are heat-resistant against hot hair iron.
Japanese hair styles are very popular in Beiging, China. Japanese hair stylists who moved to Beijing to open Japanese-style hair salon for Chinese women are very successful now. Their price is 4 times as expensive as average hair salons in Beijing. Nevertheless, their salon is alwaya full of reservations. Mr.Asakura, the owner of this hair salon is originally from Kagawa prefecture, Japan. He had experienced salons in Tokyo and London before he came to Beijing 4 years ago. He was also introduced by a Chinese business magazine, as one of the most successful 20 foreign company owners in China. His salon has now as many as over 700 customers and is open 365 days a year! What's good about him is that he is good at arranging Japanese popular hair styles into Chinese ways. Chinese have different nature of hair, compared with Japanese. Climate is also different. It's more dry in China. He takes all these into consideration to find Chinese ways.
Makeup is fun; if you mistake, just wash it off.

Kirin's opinion:
"Dekame" (big round eyes) are the must-have for girls to be pretty in your country, too? I can see that Japanese people appreciate Western beauty so much, and Japanese beauty with almond shaped eyes are not often regarded as kawaii here. 
It's not interesting that everyone tries to be the same sort of looking. What do you think? How are things in your country?

I really liked the second and third makeovers! The second woman looked so sophisticated ♥ and the third one has a good face shape for the bangs
Her eyelashes look too big for daily wear, though… only for photoshoot!
In America I do not think people pay so much attention to big eyes… but it Taiwan we have this, too! We also have the product for double eyelids. I am lucky and was born with double eyelids and fair skin (actually a lot of people think I look half, but I really am not!) but of course then my downside is that my face has freckles >.<
It is funny that Eastern likes the Western beauty, but Western is also very interested in the Eastern side, too! I do not like it when everyone is the same look either
In Taiwan the fashion is like that – when it is popular, everybody wears the same thing. Then next season, it is a new look and nobody wears the old one. I like that in America it is a big variety!
The Japanese hair salon man had good Chinese – I thought it was cute! Makeup is fun, too but I am too lazy to wear makeup all of the time, even though I work in a makeup store!
I wonder how everyone else feels to change a look so dramatically with makeup? When I do wear makeup, I wear a natural look, with maybe some fun colors for eyeshadow, but I do not try to remake my face!

the make over they gave two of the girls remind me of american 60s glam, with the heavy bangs, high-volume hair and thick lashes
I'm not sure if North Americans all have one ideal of beauty but I guess if you look at celebrities most of them have narrow or heart-shaped faces with big eyes too.
This video was interesting! I didn't ever think of putting two sets of false lashes on my eyes, maybe I will try it next time ^_^

Hi again! I have double eyelids but they became very droopy as I'm older now. So last December I had a surgery to correct the problem. I would love to email to you the before and after photos!
I really like model #2 and #3. Model #1's blush is very very nice though… ^_^

Thank you for sharing your story in Taiwan. So the situation sounds similar. It's exactly same over here, as in Taiwan, when something gets popular, everyone wears it and no one wears it any longer next year. I really don't like this.
As for makeup, I rarely wear it either. I do when I take youtube videos, but most of the time I wear less makeup or even no makeup and my boyfriends liked natural look a lot better than too much makeup. As it turned out, I am not good at wearing remarkable makeup!

To be honest I am not very good at makeup either! The only style of makeup I ever learned was the makeup we had to wear when we dance on stage!! Haha so I am not too good either :3

It costs less than 200,000 yen and my doc is a very experienced one. The other doctors are quite expensive because the demand is increasing. The stitches were removed on the 5th day after the surgery. It's not painful at all. I did take a couple of very mild painkiller though. PLUS… I was 16 weeks pregnant at that time! Haha… =P
In about 10 years' time, I'll probably have to do a brow-lift! Scary… =P

The first makeover looks the best in my opinion. Could you tell me, what does the make-up artist say about the difference of lining the eye in the case of a Japanese and western person? (Sorry If I misunderstood something… )
Even though I'm caucasian, I really interested in Japanese make-up trends and techniques. I research a lot about if on the web. I have quite big eyes, so sometimes I can't apply the eye make-up 100% the way the tutorial shows, but I really like how Japanese girls line their eyes and how they use eye shadows, so I still try to immitate it the way it finally fits my eye shape.
Besides that I'm a fan of Japan, I really find it useful, that make-up tutorials in Japanese magazines are divided into small steps. Unfortunately in my country I couldn't encounter any fashion magazine, which includes this detailed tutorial. Usually they show the final image only (sometimes max. 3 shots of the process, which barely helps). And what's really annoying is that they use colours, which don't fit too many people. Of course it looks good on models, but I guess I'm not the only one who thinks, that neon orange eyeshadow is not for everyone… and in addition, most of the models, which are displayed in them have quite narrow eyelids, but mine is quite wide ( I mean my natural eyebrows are higher, then the model's).
About big round eyes: it's not a must in my country. I think those who care about eye make-up here, they apply it based on the shape, the size of the eye, plus how long the distance is between them…etc.

Would you specify the exact time you want to hear the details of makeup artist's saying something? (For example, like 1:05-2:30.) That will help me a lot. Thanks!

Then do you wear eyeglasses instead of contact lenses? Things may be different from many years ago…why don't you try them again? (I don't know anything about contact lenses because my eyesight is OK without wearing anything. :p )

Since I'm a sucker for anything connected to make up tricks,it was interesting to see how differently girls/women try to achieve a 'beautiful' face with the help of make up.And that is where most of them overdo it lolz I liked the 2d make over cause it was natural and not vulgar. But 1st and 3d are not bad,just the purpose for making such a bright looking face can vary ( depends on the job) but for every day use,no make up or a natural make up is more favourable ( in this case korean actresses and models rule 
) I dont like fake eyelashes and fake nails! So unpractical :O
I was really surprised that western type of beauty is so popularized in Japan since I thought that asian monolid eyes is really unique and beautiful as it is ( my mom has monolid eyes,but I dont cause Im mixed,but I still have the shape of asian eyes,which probably make me look like I've undergone an operation

Do Korean actresses and models follow natural make up? But Korea is also very famous for cosmetic surgery, right? They fix the base or the structure of the face by surgery and so that's why there's less need to put too much of makeups on the refined face?

Yup,korean models do follow natural make up ( which means a flawless face and nude colours).So basically it all leads to a statement that a so-called 'beautiful' face( given by birth or given by cosmetic surgery) doesnt need any harsh make up? Which means we all should go and test the latest advances of cosmetic surgery? lolz No thanks
Heavily made-up face VS Cosmetic sugery? Which one is better or the right thing to do? No clue,but I'd choose to like myself the way I am without having an illness of a huge inferiority towards beauty standards( which tend to be different all the time)
Im not against make up or medical advances,but there should be a limit of how can a person present himself/herself to the society. Unless its a cosplay or photography art! Then there are no rules whatsoever

I'm so scared of cosmetic surgery… I'd go for heavy makeup instead if I had to choose either of them. XD But I want to get rid of large amount of fat from body more~! XD

I think if a person needs a cosmetic surgery ( he/she feels like it desperately),then better to do it
If it can boost someone's confidency and eventually open new perspectives in life,then its better to try than not to try.
I like how many celebrities look and even if I know they got their looks via surgery,I wont stop liking them or complain on how artificial it is.仕方ないよ。

There is a TV show in Japan that help people with surgeries.

thanks for the videos^^ and I meant in order to be happy,we have to support the opinion of the golden mean( chinese philosophy of not overdoing anything xD) but yeah,its hard to live like that
was not sure whether the word is correct for golden mean( its basically chinese word :[) so I was wondering between the two words 中庸 and 中道 ( which both have a meaning of golden mean,but I dont know which word is correct for the special term) T_T
