If you find something interesting, remember you can also shop from Amazon. co. jp, as they ship worldwide.
If you think that shipping expenses are too high, remember you can also count on services like the one I introduced the other day.
I skipped some famous and nice magazines such as “anan” “Frau” or “CREA” because they do not always deal with fashion. Sometimes their main topics range from fashion to life style to anything. I personally like reading them a lot more than just a fashion magazine, though. How about you?
*There is a related post about Japanese fashion magazine freebies.

I like Vivi because my Japanese isn't very good but I can still enjoy it. There are lots of pictures and short bits of text that aren't too intimidating! That said, I haven't really read any magazines apart from Vivi, and I think maybe there are ones that I would like better. ç§ã¯ï¼’ï¼’æ³ã§ã€ãƒ•ァションã€ãƒãƒƒãƒ—ã€ãƒ¡ã‚¤ã‚¯ã€ãƒ‡ã‚³ãƒã‚¤ãƒ«ãŒå¥½ãã§ã™ã€‚ã©ã£ã¡ã®é›‘誌ã¯ç§ã«åˆã†ã§ã—ょã†ã‹ã€‚

Sweet looks like a cute magazine! I've always been a fan of Fruits and Kera, too. I've always been curious about Zipper! It had been mentioned in manga I read by Ai Yazawa, I got the impression that they sometimes have manga featured? Also, how popular is the Gothic & Lolita Bible in Japan? Can you find it in a regular magazine shop?
August 17th, 2009 at 4:40 pm
I just recently started buying Japanese fashion magazine because they give such lovely freebies! So I will buy a mag if I like the gift and usually from Kinokuniya~ So far, I've gotten Spring, Sweet and Pichi Lemon.

August 17th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
por que anna tsuchya aparece en la mayoria de las revistas??
August 17th, 2009 at 7:42 pm
No fashion magazines for men ?
And something else : some of the titles are .. mm.. Egg, Fudge, Ginger, Fruits, Jelly, Nuts and.. Soup! xD
You're kidding , right ? o.0
OK ginger is also a color, but the rest are foods.
What are cooking magazines called in Japan ?
August 17th, 2009 at 10:40 pm
Sometimes a small manga appears on magazines.
As for Gothic and Lolita Bible, it's a little bit particular kind, and we do not see it at regular book stores even in Japan.
August 17th, 2009 at 10:47 pm
Oh that's good, you have Kinokuniya in your area! That's the best.
Freebies!! I know it looks like a trend these days? Many magazines offer free small bag or something, and they look nice! Especially "cher" magazine (catalog?) started to offer free eco bag first and they rocked! That's why other magazines follow this way, I think. :p

Porque ella es modelo y cantante. (Lo siento, mi espanol es no muy bien, puedes comprender?) :p
August 17th, 2009 at 10:57 pm
De nada!
August 17th, 2009 at 11:02 pm
Good point, Walter! Of course there are, and let me do that for you next time. I was overwhelmed with so many magazines already and couldn't do men's one. Sorry about that…:p
Ahaha! Yeah, funny they are foods I didn't even notice that! XD
Cooking magazines are for example, "Orange page" "Kyou no Ryori (A dish of the day)" and they are not named with foods I guess….
August 18th, 2009 at 4:08 pm
That's really interesting. A lot of the bigger bookstores I've been into in the States carry the English Gothic & Lolita Bible.
August 18th, 2009 at 11:47 pm
I buy MINI magazine for the free gifts from kinokuniya NY:D
but i like SCAWAII's for fashion, EGG & Ranzuki for makeup, and Non-No for Casual style.
I like Nail UP as well.

It's a difficult question, because it's up to how you like them. And, of course I don't read all these magazines. To be honest, I rarely have any chances to read them at all! xD So…sorry I cannot answer your question. I just showed you options you can try out from. ãŠå½¹ã«ç«‹ã¦ãšã€ã”ã‚ã‚“ã。(T _ T)

I heard that the magazine is issued in English, too. But I don't see it (even the Japanese version) at my local book stores. If I go to big ones, like Kinokuniya, I'd be able to find it though… :p
August 19th, 2009 at 2:11 am
Oh, that sounds good! You have Kinokuniya around and you make use of several Japanese manazines. I didn't know that Kinokuniya had so many international stores. (o_0)!!
August 19th, 2009 at 3:26 am
That's okay, I will just try them!
Thank you for the amazon link, the second hand ones are very cheap! :3
August 19th, 2009 at 5:38 pm
anyone know where to get Japan Fashion Magazines in US without having to pay huge shipping fees? There's no Kinokuniya nearby. thanks!
August 20th, 2009 at 5:07 am
I'm not sure if the second hand one also ship overseas. (-_-)

kirin Said,
Their shipping handling charges are little too expensive.
Did you read this part?

I'm afraid there may not be enough traffic to my blog as to be able to have many people answering to your question, I'd suggest you check out JAPAN FORUM.COM ( http://www.japanforum.com/ ) to have your question read by more people.

I live in Singapore which is such a small country but we have 3 Kinokuniya stores~
Oh, it started with cher? I really like cher's logo! Maybe I'll get the new mook if they haven't already sold out. haha
August 21st, 2009 at 8:42 am
i luv japanese magz!
they're quite expensive here in my country but it's worth it cos it's so thick and full of pics, almost like a guide book for fashion. and fashion in japan is like .. what .. like 2 years ahead from fashion in my country??? haha so i better spend my money on japanese magz (^___^)b
August 21st, 2009 at 1:52 pm
3 Kinokuniya?? Oh that's great!! Cher now offers 2 eco bags, one is a small white colored, the other one is a big blue clolored. Cher catalog is sold with free eco bag, almost anytime these days. Many people buy it because they want the bag! I thought of buying it this time, but I didn't because there are already too many girls having the cher freebie bag around. :$ Some people get the bag and sell it at the online auction for higher price. It's that popular in Japan.
August 21st, 2009 at 1:58 pm
That's interesting…2 years? Then you'd feel frustrated because you cannot find the clothing you see on the magazines, wouldn't you? But I didn't know that Japanese magazines were read by non-Japanese people like you or other readers here. You are very open to foreign books!! I wonder how often I read foreign magazines…(-_-)
August 22nd, 2009 at 2:54 pm
I sense that cher bags will become popular in SG sooner or later. People are already selling the unoriginal ones too.
August 23rd, 2009 at 11:57 am
I've not read any Japanese magazines before except some doll magazines and some cooking booklets. I find it frustrating to not be able to read them. The photos are great.
A lot of the cover models don't look Japanese though – is that a trend?
August 23rd, 2009 at 1:31 pm
Cher has become very popular in Japan, especially since a famous Japanese model "Rinka" spread it on fashion magazines, if I was not wrong. :p
August 23rd, 2009 at 1:35 pm
In fact some models are mixed blood with European, some put on a western-looking makeup, and some dye their hair. That's why they don't look like Japanese. But I can see most of them are Japanse.

I want to get this next~ =)
August 27th, 2009 at 8:32 am
i love looking a all the different fashion styles~ but i prefer the ones aimed for highschool and uni students more than OL heheh~ young at heart maybe~ XD
August 27th, 2009 at 9:55 pm
I know what you mean.
What I don't like about fashion magazines is that the clothing introduced there is priced very high. Maybe I should just pay attention to the coordination only, and not the item itself and which store it is from. I rarely have any chances to read them though… :p
August 28th, 2009 at 2:09 pm
Whenever I go to Japan most of my money gets spent on fashion magazines ^o^ They're so nice and the styles are lovely!! I like the more alternative ones too, but I normally get my Japanese family to send me ones like Girls Style and CanCam ( my cousin models for CanCam sometimes!! )
But I mostly think that they are a lot more varied (and more original) than European magazines (:
It must be so much fun to work for magazines like that..
September 2nd, 2009 at 11:25 am
Oh how cool you have a cousin modeling for CanCam!
Your Japanese family…Are you Japanese and living overseas?
These days even living outside Japan, it became easier to get things delivered to you, thanks to internet services, huh?
I went to Kinokuniya in Sydney and I found almost evey magazine I listed here, and I guess even more were available out there. Wow…That's amazing to me!
April 28th, 2010 at 4:16 pm
Oh I miss japanese magazines, I live in Norway now, but i lived in tokyo for a year..
April 30th, 2010 at 1:59 pm
They are already familiar to you, then.
June 22nd, 2010 at 2:04 pm
Is there an english version for ViVi magazine? I want to buy it. I couldnt get in Singapore.
June 23rd, 2010 at 12:24 am
Hmmm…I have to say I don't know because in Japan I've never seen any magaiznes of English version. I saw English or Chinese version of magazines in Malaysia for the first time and so much surprised.

HELLO!
I graduated with a degree in fashion design, but my degree is an associates. I was wondering if it was at all possible for me to find a job with a fashion magazine in Japan? I have worked in the United Kingdom in fashion, and I have worked in reatail. How would I go about obtaining a fashion job in Japan?
September 1st, 2010 at 1:45 pm
Do you want to work for a fashion magazine in Japan? First requirement will be fluency in Japanese. Secondly you should have working experience at any fashion magazine before. Thirdly, you have to convince the employer what kind of benefit you can offer to them because hiring you means not to hire the locals instead. You've got to have something beneficial for the employer that he will not be able to gain from the local candidates. This is my opinion. I have no experience working for a fashion magazine, so it's just my opinion from general idea.
FYI, here's a link to job opportunities related with fashion industry. http://fashion.jobdirect.jp/

Newbie here! I was looking for Japanese fashion blogs, and stumbled upon this one=P
I lived in Japan for 8 years, but I've been living in Australia for the last 2 (I'm South American though).
Although my Japanese is not very good,I still liked to buy fashion magazines, and my favorite was ViVi,usually I would find a really cute dress,or the nicest boots and I'd go to buy them; but the best part for me was to see all the looks that the models were showing,it was a really good source to draw inspiration from.
Kirin,tu blog es excelente, espero que cada vez más gente lo lea ^.^!
